Elderly KCK woman dies in early morning house fire

KSHB – October 29, 2018

An elderly woman died in an early-morning house fire in the 3200 block of North 27th Street Saturday morning in Kansas City, Kansas.

Fire crews reported a single-family home was fully engulfed in flames after arriving around 7 a.m.

The unidentified woman was found dead inside the home after an initial search.

Three other family members were not at home at the time of the fire.

Battalion Chief Morris Letcher said it appears the fire started in the bedroom area but an official cause has not yet been determined.

The house may be determined to be a total loss, and the American Red Cross is assisting the other family members with temporary shelter.
