A house fire Saturday evening caused extensive damage.

Topeka fire crews responded about 6:15 p.m. to a house fire at 1224 S.W. Lane St., with a report of a trapped person.

When they arrived, firefighters didn’t find anyone trapped inside the house and began working to put the fire out, said fire Capt. Chad Baldwin.

No injuries were reported.

It wasn’t immediately known how the fire started, but Baldwin said the damage to the house was extensive.

The 1200 block of S.W. Lane was blocked while firefighters worked at the scene.
