Residents displaced after fire

Leavenworth Times – August 16, 2018

Six people were displaced following a fire at a Leavenworth apartment, a Fire Department spokesman said.

No injuries were reported, but a pet cat was killed in the fire.

The fire was reported at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday at 802 S. Fourth St.

Mark DeMaranville, division chief of prevention for the Leavenworth Fire Department, said the fire began in a second-floor apartment.

Members of the Fort Leavenworth Fire Department responded to the scene to assist Leavenworth firefighters.

The fire resulted in an estimated damage of between $30,000 and $32,000.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

DeMaranville said the American Red Cross provided assistance to the people who were displaced.
