There has been an almost overnight transformation at the site for the new Fire Station 81 at the southwest corner of Woodlawn and Madison as a series of pre-formed panels have been put in place. A special crane that can lift the panels, each weighing 12,000 to 37,000 pounds, was brought in for the job. “It makes the building come together quickly,” says Ian Williams, onsite job supervisor for Snodgrass Construction, the general contractor. In a few days, the panels take care of what otherwise would take weeks to complete, he says. The project is expected to be completed in spring 2019.
