A vehicle fire late Monday afternoon resulted in the loss of an estimated $4,800 for a local towing company.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said Tuesday that emergency personnel were called to the 1300 block of North Ohio where three vehicles inside a fenced-in wrecker storage lot were on fire. The vehicles, which had been impounded in the lot owned by A&A Towing since at least March 2018, included a 1994 Chevrolet Blazer, a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe, and a 2001 Mazda Millenia. The vehicles were parked close together, he added.

Soldan said the towing company estimated the loss at $1,600 per vehicle.

The cause of the fire was undetermined, he said.
