Wellington fire responds to structure fire Thursday evening

Wellington Daily News – August 13, 2018

At 7:34 p.m. Thursday evening, Wellington Fire/EMS responded to a reported structure fire at 223 W. 10th. Upon arrival found smoke coming from the lower level of a two-story home. Upon entering the structure, they found fire spreading from the stove up the wall and across the ceiling. The fire was quickly contained but the house suffered heavy smoke damage throughout. Three cats were found in the home and firefighters attempted CPR/oxygen but efforts were unsuccessful. The structure owned by Mike and Donette Cypert suffered damages of $30,000. Mayfield Fire, Fire District 9 (Belle Plaine), Oxford Fire provided mutual aid assistance.
