No injuries in southwest Wichita house fire

KSN – August 13, 2018

Wichita fire crews responded to a house fire at a home in southwest Wichita Saturday morning.

The fire was in a home in the 500 block of W. Shirk, near S. Palisade. It happened a little before 11:00 a.m.

When fire crews arrived to the scene they saw smoke coming from the front of the house. Battalion Chief Sid Newby said crews were able to search the home quickly and find the source of the fire was coming from the kitchen.

Newby said no one was inside the home at the time and no one was injured. However, several puppies were found and rescued from the home. They are doing just fine, said Newby.

Authorities are not sure if the home is currently being occupied.
