It was a day of fun, adventure and learning for kids in Jackson County!

The Jackson Co. Sheriff’s Office invited the Lifestar helicopter to drop in Thursday on their 17th annual Day Camp.

More than 300 6- through 12-year-old’s learned more about the sheriff’s office, along with emergency medical services and fire departments.

Sheriff Tim Morse says this is a good chance to build long-lasting relationships with kids in the county, which has come in handy down the road.

“We go to a situation, we go to a scene, we’ve already got friends, we’ve already made relationships with the kids,” he said. “And those kids turn into adults and we’ve actually, some of our employees have started out at day camp.”

The kids also got to go fishing, canoeing, boating and practice archery.
