Kansas teen dies after crashing head-on into semi

KAKE – August 9, 2018

Authorities say a 15-year-old Kansas boy died when sideswiped a pickup and then crashed into an oncoming semi.

The accident happened at around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday near Fort Scott, which is just west of the Missouri state line. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports Hunter Kovacic was heading north on U.S. Route 69 when his Ford Ranger crossed the center line, sideswiping a Ford F350 and then striking the semi head-on.

Kovacic, of Stark, died at the scene.

The 40-year-old driver of the semi was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The other driver was not hurt.
