Montgomery County firefighter, 2 sons among victims of deadly Ponca City plane crash

KSN – August 6, 2018

Two children were among five people killed in a plane crash near Ponca City.

Multiple agencies including the Kay County Sheriff’s Office, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Federal Aviation Administration responded to the area near Hubbard Rd. and S. U St. on Saturday.

Officials cannot identify the plane due to too much damage, however, they describe it as a “small plane.”

According to authorities, three adults and two children were killed in the crash.

Officials say the plane was leaving the Ponca City Airport to travel to Independence, Kansas.

The NTSB is investigating.

Crews are still investigating the crash and have not released other details at this time.

The Independence Rural Fire Department announced on their Facebook Page Saturday that the victims of the crash were connected to the department.

The department said Sycamore firefighter Nicholas Warner and his two sons were killed in the crash. Warner’s father, Bill, and his friend Tim Valentine were also killed in the crash, according to the department.

The department is expected to release more information on service details at a later time.
