Sunny 7 Mutual Aid Benefit set for Aug. 4

Garden City Telegram – July 25, 2018

The first ever Sunny 7 Mutual Aid Benefit is slated for 3 p.m. Aug. 4 to 1 a.m. Aug. 5 at Jim Wilson Crane Service, 2285 W. Road 10 in Ulysses.

The Sunny 7 Mutual Aid Benefit has been organized to aid Grant, Haskell, Morton, Stanton, Kearny, Stevens, and Hamilton counties with funds for training and wildland fire gear for potentially catastrophic events the departments are called to aid.

Over the past several years, southwest Kansas has experienced multiple wildland fires, with this past fire season being one of the worst in recent history. These southwest Kansas counties are often called for mutual aid across 18 counties in Kansas, and even called to aid surrounding states like Colorado and Oklahoma.

The fundraising event will include bouncy houses, a dunk tank, games for kids and adults, a beer garden, raffle items, a live auction, and live music from deejay Larry Vogel, Weston Wilkerson, and Flatland Crew.

State Sen. John Doll will serve as the guest speaker.

Tickets for the Sunny 7 Mutual Aid Benefit are $15 each or $45 for a family in advance. Tickets will be $20 each or $60 for a family at the gate.

Tickets can be purchased at any United Prairie AG office (located in Ulysses, Hugoton, Satanta, Lakin, and Moscow); Triple D Auto Parts, Keller Leopold, NAPA Auto Parts, and First National Bank in Syracuse; Warner Automotive, Outlaw’s Bar and Grill, and Big I Bail Bonding in Ulysses; and Triple J’s Pizza in Satanta.

Those interested in purchasing tickets can also contact their local fire department in any of the counties.
