A Falls City, Nebraska man has been killed in a northeast Kansas accident, in Brown County.

The Kansas Highway patrol reports 58-year-old Charles Kreifels was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado pickup north on U.S. Highway 73, when his truck left the west side of the highway. The pickup then traveled back across the roadway, went into the east ditch, where it struck a creek bank.

The pickup was pulling a trailer at the time of the accident.

The KHP says Kreifels, who was not wearing a safety restraint, died at the scene of the accident yesterday, at around one p.m.

A passenger in the pickup, 63-year-old David Warner of Falls City, was taken to the Hiawatha Community Hospital for treatment of injuries. Authorities say he was not using a safety restraint.

The accident happened about two miles north of Hiawatha, Kansas.
