Two overnight fires: one intentionally set

The Topeka Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1726 SW Harrison St. just after 1:00 Sunday morning. When crews arrived they found two story cinder block structures fully engulfed in flames.

Firefighters began battling the flames, keeping it to the structure where it started. Minutes after crews arrived, the roof and walls began to collapse.

This fire remains under investigation.

There is an estimated $8,100.00 in damage.

Meanwhile, around the same time fire crews responded to another structure fire at 115 SW Grant St. just after 1:00 Sunday morning.

When crews arrived, they found a single story family dwelling with smoke and flames.

Firefighters battled the flames, keeping it to the structure where the fire started. Crews were searched the structure and found no one inside.

Officials say this fire was intentionally set. There is an estimated $1,000 in damage. ·
