Salina Journal – July 3, 2018

A Rogator 854 chemical sprayer belonging to Vaughn Isaacson, of Salina, was reported to be on fire about 10:15 p.m. Monday in a field in the 2800 block of North Gypsum Valley Road, just southwest of Solomon, according to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan.

Soldan said Isaacson’s brother-in-law had last used the machine about 9 p.m. A neighbor reported the fire about an hour later.

The fire, which began in the control panel of the sprayer, was contained to the machinery. It was extinguished by firefighters with Saline County Rural Fire District No. 5.

Soldan said the cab of the sprayer was destroyed but he was not sure if the equipment was totaled.

The machine was valued at between $50,000 and $80,000.
