Local Uber driver and passenger save man from car fire

Sunday morning emergency crews were called out to Maple and Ridge on the west side of Wichita for a brutal one car crash.

But the real first responders?

Uber driver Brookelynn Struzik and her passenger came up on the crash seconds after impact.

“So, we got out and there was some flames in the front engine,” said Struzik.

Struzik had a cup of water on her and used that on the growing fire, but more help came from complete strangers.

“People were driving by giving us water bottles and cups and like things that they had been drinking,” added Struzik.

The Uber driver and her passenger got the fire out, then crews moved in to get the 33-year-old man out of the mangled mess.

The man had critical injuries but was alive, officials on scene credit the duo for saving the driver from the fire.

Struzik doesn’t want the label as a hero, instead she hopes others are inspired to take an extra second for a stranger, it could just save their life.
