Galena Wildfire Destroys Dozens of Acres

Four States News – June 11, 2018

Galena fire fighters work to control a burn in town that left 40 to 60 acres destroyed as major wind gusts fueled a wild fire.

Flames started just South of Columbus street and North of the Galena Fire Department.

The Galena Fire Chief says crews originally responded to the area after burning trash caught the grass on fire.

They put that fire out later to return to battle a second blaze.

Smoke could be seen for miles as Baxter Springs and Galena fire departments got the flames out.

The Galena Fire Chief says there was no property damage as a result of the blaze.
