House damaged by fire

Garden City Telegram – June 4, 2018

The Garden City Police Department and the Garden City Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Thursday, which was deemed accidental.

At 4:47 p.m. Thursday, the GCPD were dispatched to 4101 E. Highway 50 #539 for a reported structure fire. When officers arrived on scene, a small amount of smoke and fire was coming from the residence.

Neighbors were on scene attempting to extinguish the fire with a water hose when the GCFD arrived on scene and extinguished the fire.

According to the GCPD, the investigation revealed the water heater at the residence started the fire.

The home received damage to the water heater, wooden floor, siding, and metal skirting, which is estimated to be more than $1,000 in damages.

The fire was deemed accidental.
