Pratt firefighters made short work of a vehicle fire shortly after 11 a.m. on March 9 at Pratt Country Estates. The pickup, belonging to Doug Cooper, caught fire shortly after 11 a.m. on March 9. Cooper and his family had arrived at their home at Pratt Country Estates on 620 Country Club Road around 11 a.m.

Cooper said the pickup was cutting out like it was having trouble getting gas when he parked the vehicle and the family went inside their house. About 10 minutes later Cooper went outside and discovered the engine compartment engulfed in flames and called 911.

The fire department quickly had the fire out then spent several minutes spraying down the engine compartment to cool it down. There was no definite cause of the fire but it could have been electrical, said Pratt Fire Chief David Kramer.

No one was injured in the incident and the only damage was to the pickup.
