Clay Center man’s body found after Miltonvale house fire

Concordia Blade Empire – March 12, 2018

The body of a Clay Center man was discovered in a Miltonvale house that was damaged by a fire on Saturday.

Cloud County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the fire at 112 W. Railroad St., and once the fire had been extinguished, the Miltonvale fire chief reported that a body had been located in the house.

The investigation into the fire led to the identification of the person in the house as Joshua Rookstool, 21, Clay Center.

The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office was called to the scene to investigate.

A K-9 officer was used in the investigation, and located several areas where accelerants had been used.

Rookstool’s body was transported to Frontier Forensics in Kansas City for an autopsy.

The cause of death has not yet been determined.
