Fire crews fight large debris fire in west Wichita

KWCH – July 25, 2017

A large debris fire near K-96 and west street had Wichita fire crews working overnight.

Chief Bryan Ellis says, “About 1 o’clock, we received a report of a trash fire out here at the trash facility. We had crews from Sedgwick county fire and Wichita fire respond out.”

Crews initially had a hard time determining access points as they arrived to the two trash facilities.

Fire crews used deck guns to keep the fire knocked down so the embers didn’t flare up and catch the grass on fire.

No injuries were reported.
