Fatal car-vs-deer accident in Seward County

One person is dead, another injured after a car vs deer accident in southwest Kansas. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports it happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday on a county road in Seward County, northeast of Kismet.

A westbound SUV struck a deer, went into the north ditch, over-corrected and went off the road on the south side into a field, and flipped over coming back onto the roadway again.

The driver of the vehicle was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. The passenger, 44-year-old Lorrie Honea of Turpin, Oklahoma was not wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
