Wichita County now has a new fire truck. The new fire truck is a 1990 army surplus truck, 8.3 L, Diesel automatic transmission, 6-wheel drive truck. The Wichita County fireman found the truck on the internet while searching for new equipment to better serve our local department. They found this one online and had pictures sent. The original price of the truck was $180,000 and was purchased by our local department for $110,000.

The truck is a Fenton Beast Type III. Two firemen built the Fenton. The Beast has a 1325-gallon water tank, with a 20-gallon foam tank. It has spray nozzles on the front with two on each side that are all controlled inside the cab. It has hoses for the front and the back with 1-inch line on each side and a 1-1/2 swivel gun. There are toolboxes on the side to hold all necessary equipment that may be needed. It is equipped with a 8500 generator, has towing capabilities, and has a reel with connections and suction with a 2 1/2 inch line. With having the Beast truck local firefighters are able to get to fires and have the necessary equipment available to get fires under control at a quicker rate of speed.
