Wichita firefighters battled a two-alarm apartment fire in West Wichita Monday night. The fire broke out around 8 p.m in the Colony West Apartments. They’re located one block north of W. Central and just west of N. Ridge Rd.

A Wichita police officer who first responded to the scene, said flames reached a height of about 30 feet. Fire officials say around seven or eight units were destroyed in the fire. The cause of the blaze is not known at this time. Twenty crews and 60 firefighters responded to the scene. Four firefighters received minor burns fighting the fire but were not hospitalized. A resident was injured after returning to the apartments and seeing his residence on fire. Firefighters are investigating a cause to the fire.
