Dennis Milo Stevens

Dennis M. Stevens, 79, of McLouth, KS died at the Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born November 30, 1937 the son of Roy Lee and Iva Lee Tarr Stevens. He was a 1956 graduate of McLouth High School. He married Ethel Mae Hay on March 11, 1960 in Lawrence. Dennis worked 20 years for the Lawrence Paper company, and 25+ years for Packer Plastics as maintenance and repair man. He also enjoyed working at the Topeka Raceway as a “Jack of all Trades”. He was active in the Meriden Threshing Bee and a volunteer for the Sarcoxie Township fire department. He enjoyed building, working on, and operating lawn tractors and participated in several area lawn tractor pulls. Survivors are 1 son, Rodney Stevens, McLouth., and two daughters, Denise Stevens, Lecompton, KS., and Penny Illig, Perry, KS., one brother, Roy Stevens, Oskaloosa, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2014, one son Michael Stevens in 2007, one brother George, and a sister in infancy. Funeral Services will be 11AM Wednesday May 3, at the Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Burial will follow at the Buster Cemetery in rural Perry. Visitation is Tuesday evening 6-8PM at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Meriden Threshing Bee and sent in care of the Barnett Family Funeral Home, PO Box 602 Oskaloosa, KS 66066.
