No one was injured when a fire broke out at Oak Place Apartments Monday afternoon.

According to Pittsburg Fire Chief Mike Simons, the fire broke out a little after 4 p.m. Monday.

The resident was not home and Simmons said the cause is officially undetermined, however arson is not suspected at this time. He said they have a rough idea where the fire started but the exact ignition point has not been determined.

According to Simons, the apartments are separated by concrete block “firewalls” which kept the blaze contained to the affected unit.

Simmons said it is not currently habitable thanks to smoke and water damage.

Oak Place Manager Lynette Downing said that it was lucky that no one was in the apartment.

“I’m glad no one was in there,” Downing said. “They are lucky.”
