KWCH – March 6, 2017

Kansas Highway Patrol says one person has died and two others were injured after their Chevy hit a ditch, flipped once and ejected two people.

The truck came to a stop on the cab after hitting a tree on the driver’s side door.

The accident happened around 3:45 Saturday morning about 2 miles north of Dennis, Kansas.

Nickolas Gofourth, 16, from Independence, Kansas was driving the vehicle eastbound on 10th Road when it went off the roadway. Gofourth was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two other occupants, one 17-year-old and one 18-year-old from Thayer, Kansas, were injured from the crash.

Neither of the two passengers were wearing seat belts. The 17-year-old was also ejected and is in critical condition.
