There were 209 calls in Sedgwick County for fires Saturday.
Several fires sparked in Wichita and surrounding areas.

In Mount Hope, crews battled flames in the attic of a home.

People who live in that neighborhood worried their homes could be next because they were hearing about so many fires. They think the dry weather could be contributing to all the fires.

“If you’re talking grass fires, absolutely,” said Mount Hope Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Jon Smith. “I know we’re red flag over most of the state.”

Smith wasn’t sure what caused the fire in Mount Hope. Investigators were on scene to try and find out the cause.

One person was in the house at the time the fire sparked, but Smith said that person was able to safely get out before firefighters arrived on scene.

Firefighters said they got the call around 4 p.m. Saturday.
