Mulvane fire truck damaged in accident

The Mulvane Fire Department is down to two pumper trucks now since one was damaged in a car accident near Hillside Street and K-53 Highway west of Mulvane.

A driver hit the truck last month after running a stop sign at the intersection, the Mulvane News reported. While the truck itself wasn’t totaled, the controls and pumps on the side of the truck were.

None of the firefighters in the truck were hurt. The driver of the other vehicle and a passenger sustained non-serious injuries.

The truck, which was purchased in 2006, was the newest Mulvane had. Dave Williams, director of public safety for the City of Mulvane, said they will likely have to drive the truck to the closest firetruck repair company in Breda, Iowa.
