Explosion Sends Randolph Man To Hospital

Riley County authorities on Saturday afternoon responded to a report of an explosion in northern Riley County. Approximately 20 fire and EMS workers responded to the scene at 3:40 p.m.

Riley County Fire Chief Pat Collins says a man and a dog were injured when a building exploded.

According to reports, Ken Specht was inside a shop building at 2217 Ober Road in Randolph when the explosion occurred. Windows in a house approximately 100 feet away were also blown out.

Specht was reportedly checking a furnace inside an out building when the explosion occurred. He was transported to Via Christi Hospital.
