Three people, including two Mayetta residents, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Jackson County, authorities said.

The Kansas Highway Patrol at 4:05 p.m. was dispatched to 135th Road and US-75 highway — 4 miles south of Mayetta — for a crash with injuries, according to an online crash log.

A 2001 Ford F-150, driven by Ramon Alexander Noriega, 78, of Mayetta, entered the highway from 135th Road and turned northbound. A 2004 Pontiac, driven by Luke Alan Ostergard, 24, of North Platte, Neb., struck the rear of the Ford. The Pontiac left the roadway and rolled. It came to rest on its top.

Noriega and an occupant, Leatrice S. Noriega, 69, of Mayetta, were extricated, said Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse. One of them was life flighted to Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center. The other person, as well as Ostergard, were transported by ambulance to Stormont-Vail.

Their conditions weren’t immediately available.

No one was wearing their seat belts, according to the crash log.

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputies, the Mayetta Fire Department, Potawatomi Fire Department, Jackson County EMS, Kansas Department of Transportation and Potawatomi Tribal Police also responded.
