KCK fire station shuts down after sewage backup

KMBC – May 25, 2015

A sewage backup has shut down a Kansas City, Kansas, fire station.

Deputy Chief Craig Duke said the backup was discovered at Station No. 4 near 81st Street and Leavenworth Road about 8 p.m. Saturday.

A plumbing crew came in and fixed the problem, but it backed up again Sunday morning.

The station’s crew and equipment has been moved to a different station at 55th Street and Leavenworth Road.

Duke said the repairs will take some time to fix and will include digging into the building’s foundation.

Residents and businesses covered by Station No. 4 will be covered by the crews who have moved to Station No. 18.
