Fire Rips Through Dover Home

A Dover home is a sustained severe damage after a fire ripped through it this afternoon.

Fire crews arrived at 10730 SW Highway K4 after the owner of the home tells 13 NEWS a passer by noticed flames coming from the residence around 6 pm. He knocked on the door and called the local fire station.

Crews were still putting out hot spots over an hour and a half after they arrived on scene. No one was home at the time of the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the amount of damage done to the home is unknown.


Fire crews were called early Monday to a residence just west of Dover in eastern Wabaunsee County that caught fire again after it was severely damaged in a Sunday evening blaze.

Dover fire crews were called around 6:15 a.m. Monday to a home at 10730 S.W. K-4 highway after the fire rekindled.

The original fire was reported around 6:10 p.m. Sunday and caused major damage to the home.

Wendy and Alan Branson, along with their 8-year-old daughter, lived in the home. They were at a relative’s home when the blaze began.

No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
