The 2015 Andover Police and Fire Foundation scholarship recipients were recognized at the Andover City Council meeting Tuesday evening.
Brett White, Andover Fire and Police Foundation member, introduced scholarship winners Stephanie Peltier and Taran Langston.
Peltier, the winner of the 2105 Fire Scholarship Award, is a senior at Andover High school. She plans to attend the University of Central Missouri with a major in crisis and disaster relief and a minor in fire science.
Langston, the winner of the 2015 Police Scholarship Award, is a senior at Andover Central High School. She plans to attend Wichita State University with a major in criminal justice.
White explained the scholarships are awarded to Andover graduates pursuing a career in law enforcement and fire rescue.
The $750 scholarships are open to all ACHS and AHS graduating seniors interested in pursing a career or degree in criminal justice or fire science.
The recipient must demonstrate exceptional character, community involvement and interest in school activities and a potential for academic success, said White.
The award winners must be planning to, or currently attending, a two-year community college or four-year university as a full-time student studying police or fire science.
