Roads reopen after crews cap Olathe gas leak

KMBC – May 14, 2015

Firefighters evacuated four duplexes in Olathe Wednesday afternoon following a gas leak.

Investigators said a crew struck a natural gas line near 141st Terrace and Cottonwood Drive.

Some roads in the area were also closed and firefighters checked for elevated gas levels in nearby homes. As a result of those tests, they asked people to evacuate the duplexes.

Atmos Energy capped the leak and the roads have been reopened, though some work crews remain in the area.

No injuries have been reported.
