An accident occurred in the 2300 block of South Main St. in front of Dillon’s on Wednesday around 6:30. According to sources on the scene, a 2001 Ford Taurus pulled out in front of a 2011 Dodge Journey that was driving northbound on Main St. A male driver was the only occupant in the Dodge that collided with the Ford.
The impact caused the Dodge to push the Ford westward across the median into the rail. Winfield Fire/EMS and Winfield Police were all on the scene working to free the female driv- er from the Taurus. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to gain access to the driver. Once she was extracted she was taken to William Newton Hospital.
Scanner reports indicated she was transported to the hospital in code green condition, with head and back pain. The man was unharmed aside from a possible seat belt injury.
