A driver was killed after she rear-ended a vehicle in Lansing, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 3:23 p.m. Monday at Main Street and 4-H Road.

Jean E. Young, 65, Kansas City, Kansas, struck the other vehicle as she was traveling north on Main Street in a 1999 Ford Taurus.

The Taurus struck the back of a 2014 Ford Edge that was stopped at a red light. Investigators do not know why Young had failed to stop for the light and struck the vehicle, according to the report.

Young had been wearing a seat belt, according to the report.

The other driver, Deanna L. Nicodemus, 61, Leavenworth, was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital, Kansas City, Kansas. Her passenger, Terry Nicodemus, 64, also was taken to the hospital for injuries.

They both had been wearing seat belts, according to the report.
