Large spill after a tanker truck rolls over south of Zenith

A truck hauling farm chemicals crashed 5 miles south of the town of Zenith around 3 p.m., Friday leaving a large spill and sending the driver to Stafford County hospital.

The truck was southbound on SE 140th ave, Zenith Rd when the right side tires went off the roadway as the driver corrected the truck slid sideways flipping on to its side and rolling over as it entered the northbound ditch.

A first responder at the scene said the driver was shaken up, but appeared to be alright. He was being transported to Stafford County Hospital for evaluation.

Two containers of were thrown from the truck as it rolled, one cracked and spilling some product. Another container marked RT3, a Roundup product, appeared to be intact and upright. A representative of Kanza Co-Op said the chemical that spilled from the tanker on the truck was a fertilizer product.

Stafford County firefighters responded to assist with clean up. KDHE has been notified of the spill. Expect traffic on 140 south of Zenith to be delayed at times during the removal of the truck and spill clean up.
