A pair of mid morning collisions on Eastbound I-70, just west of Wanamaker slowed traffic for more than an hour.

The first crash was reported between a car and a semi, with the semi ending up off the side of the road.

Officials told 13 NEWS that they believe the semi was trying to avoid a damaged car that was on the roadway, jackknifed and struck a car on the shoulder of the highway.

The two occupants of the car struck by the semi were both taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries. The semi driver was also taken to the hospital for treatment.

One collision was described as non injury, the other is reported as injury involved.

The Topeka Fire Department is still on the scene cleaning up diesel that spilled when the fuel tank was ruptured.
