A firefighter was taken to Mercy Regional Health Center after receiving minor injuries from a fire on Sunday afternoon, said Fire Chief Pat Collins.

The Riley County Fire Department fought two fires Sunday afternoon. A 400-acre fire burned in the Swede Creek area, and a small fire burned near Baldwin Park Road, according to Collins.

The RCFD also fought two grass fires Friday afternoon. The first fire was 60 acres near Fairview Church Road. The second fire was 15 to 20 acres near Top of the World.

None of the fires caused significant damage, Collins said, except one firefighter received minor injuries. The extent of the firefighter’s injuries is unknown.
