Clyde Edward Martin


Clyde Edward Martin was born March 4, 1945 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of George Ellis Martin and Evelyn Nadine (Chambers) Martin.

He moved with his family as a child from Franklin County to Overbrook, Kansas where he graduated from Overbrook High Scholl with the class of 1963. Clyde moved from Overbrook to Buena Vista, Colorado in 1979 before moving back to Overbrook in 1987.

Clyde was a very talented man hard working man. He was a carpenter and roofer for many years as well as a Dairy farmer for several years in the Overbrook area.

He served his country in the Kansas National Guard from 1964 to 1979. His service to his fellow community member continued as he was also an active member of Osage County Fire District #4 volunteer Fire Department for many years serving later in the Fire District as a member of the Board.

Clyde married Patricia Martin later divorcing. He married Cheryl Stewart-Martin, they also later divorced.

Clyde is survived by four children, Spence Edward Martin and his companion, Jessie Davis, of Overbrook, Loretta Martin of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Isabeau Stewart-Martin and her husband, Shawn, of Kansas City, Kansas and Benjamin Navvarre Stewart-Martin of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Sue Marie Martin of Overbrook and Cheri Harmison and husband, Ed, of Overbrook; sister-in-law Carolyn Martin of Overbrook and grandson, Justin Cordell Davis, of Overbrook.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Don Martin.

Family will greet friends on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at United Methodist Church, Overbrook. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 10, 2015, at United Methodist Church, Overbrook. Burial will follow at Overbrook Cemetery, Overbrook.
