Man injured in farm accident

Emergency crews were called to the scene of a farm accident just after 9:20 a.m. today near the intersection of Road 80 and Road H. Scanner traffic indicated a man was down. The man is conscious and breathing and was injured by a grain auger. He has a minor head injury and severe lacerations to the hand.

No further details are available at this time.


A 60-year old rural Olpe man was injured in a industrial accident early Monday morning.

At approximately 9:23 a.m. Monday, the Emporia/Lyon County Ambulance and a Lyon County Sheriff’s deputy responded to the accident, which was a half a mile west of Road H and Road 80.

Lyon County Highway Department sign crew employee Arlen Stueve was injured when the sign auger safety chain broke as it was being loaded back in the transport position.

Stueve was transported to Newman Regional Health. He had non-life threatening injuries to his head and hand.
