During a mock accident Friday morning, a police officer consoles two “accident victims” next to the “body” of a third. The Riley County Police Department and Manhattan Fire Department staged the accident, involving an entrapment and ejection, for Manhattan High students outside the school’s west campus in conjunction with the school’s Student Against Drunk Driving Program. It was intended to show them the potential effects of drunken or distracted driving.
