Topeka Man Dies From Injuries In Motorcycle Crash

A 42 year old man has died from his injuries sustained in a Friday evening motorcycle crash.
Shawnee County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Gilchrist confirms 42 year old Jerry Johnston Jr. died late Saturday afternoon.
On Friday Deputies with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the injury accident involving a Chevy Trailblazer and a Harley Davidson motorcycle at SW 29th and Indian Hills Road.
Deputies arrived to find Jerry Johnston Jr. from the motorcycle suffering from life threatening injuries.
The driver of the suv…23 year old Robert Graham was not injured. Both drivers are from Topeka.
Law enforcement officers say the motorcycle was traveling east on SW 29th, the suv was traveling west on 29th. The driver of the suv turned left in front of the motorcycle, attempting to go South on Indian Hills Road.
The motorcycle struck the passenger side of the suv, ejecting the driver from the motorcycle.
Deputy Gilchrist says the van failed to yield to the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle was not wearing a helmet when the collision occurred.
He suffered unspecified head injuries and was transported to a Topeka hospital.
The intersection was closed for approximately 4 and a half hours while the scene was investigated.
