Crash sends one to hospital

Wednesday, April 9th, at approximately 3:34 p.m. Cherokee County Sheriff Office responded to traffic accident at 3600 Southeast US Highway 69A, just south of Clem Road.

Corbin Hamilton, 23, Pittsburg, driving a 2010 Kia Soul, was traveling northbound and struck the rear end of the 1966 Ford Mustang, driven by Kara Hansen, 16, Galena, who had stopped to make a left hand turn into a driveway.

The Hansen vehicle was pushed into the path of a 2008 Ford Taurus driven by Marty Atnip, 40, Jasper, Mo.

Ms. Hansen was taken via helicopter to a hospital in Joplin, Mo., initially and was then flown to a hospital in Kansas City, Mo.

The crash is still under investigation by the Cherokee County Sheriff Office.
