Man injured when truck strikes pole, enters creek

At 9:13 p.m. on March 16, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office responded to an injury accident near Kansas Highway 16 and 198th Road, it was reported.

A 2007 Dodge ram pickup driven by Eric Schrick left the highway heading south from the Birmingham curve off of K-16 at T Road. The truck struck a utility pole and continued south through a field, rolled and then came to rest on its roof in a creek. The driver of the vehicle was ejected and taken to St. Francis Hospital in Topeka with debilitating injuries.

The Holton Fire Department and Rescue and Jackson County EMS also responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
