Sunday afternoon around 3:45 p.m., the Jewell Volunteer Fire Department was called to a grass fire west of Jewell along 140 Rd and K Rd in a pasture belonging to Matt Loomis. The grass had been burned Saturday and reignited itself Sunday afternoon, traveling into two other acreages of grass before it was brought under control.

Mankato Volunteer Fire Department was called at 4:10 p.m. for mutual aid. The amount of acreage burned was undetermined. Smoke was seen coming from that area by individuals Monday evening.

Monday morning around 11:10 Mankato Volunteer Fire Department was summoned to one mile east of Mankato to the residence of Donna Silsby. Donna had been burning brush and it got away from her. The fire traveled east away from her house and burned four or five acres of grass.
