Butler County Fire District #3 fire calls

It was a fiery week for the Butler County Fire District #3 firefighters who answered eight dispatches from structural blazes to tree fires. Vehicles were unlocked for residents and firefighters assisted Butler County Medic 50 on three medical emergencies.

The first fire of the week was reported in the 14000 block of S.W. 173rd St. Upon arrival at the scene firefighters found no evidence of a fire or any other problems.

A grass fire reported Tuesday, March 4 at S.W. 150th St. and Butler Rd was found to be a controlled burn in Sedgwick County. However the firefighters of BCFD #3 made a run to the 13000 block of S.W. 230th for a reported grass fire. It was a small burn and extinguished quickly without property loss.

Firefighters were called to assist the Andover Fire Department with a structural fire in the 100 block of S. Lexington. They were shortly released from the scene.

Firefighters checked a residence in the 100 block of S. Rose Hill Rd. where carbon monoxide fumes were reported. The home was checked but nothing was found.

Sunday, March 9 was ablaze with several fires. Firefighters answered a call from the 200 block of S. Bentwood for a propane grill that caught fire. The gas was shut off and the tank disconnected from the grill.

There were 28 bales of hay that flamed up in the 11000 block of S.W. 120th St. Firefighters put out the fire but the 12 acres of hay were lost. They returned later in the day to extinguish trees in the same location that had caught fire. There was no loss in this incident.

Sirens blared as they headed to the 14000 block of S.W. Tawakoni Rd. where they put out a two acre grass fire. No loss was sustained.
