Fire crews battled intense flames and strong winds after a house fire overnight in Mt. Hope.

Crews were called to the 300 block of S. Ohio just before 1:00 am.

Eleven firefighters from the Mt. Hope Fire Department and two firefighters from the Sedgwick County Fire Department battled the blaze.

It took around two and a half hours to get it under control. Firefighters remained on the scene through the night making sure it didn’t flare back up.

Fire officials believe high winds caused power lines to arc, setting the back side of the house on fire.

The home is a total loss.

No one was hurt, but Sedgwick County EMS was on hand to provide relief for fire crews.
