Butler County Fire District #3 Firefighters, under the command of Chief Jim Woydziak, had light fire duty last week with only one call to assist Douglass with a structural fire. Butler County Medic 50 and it’s EMS crews were kept rolling with seven medical emergencies including one fatality.

Rose Hill Fire and Rescue along with Butler County Sheriff’s Department and EMS were dispatched to a one vehicle rollover accident Saturday, March 1 at approximately 8:30 p.m. at S.W. Butler Rd. and 190th St.

James Thresher was driving a 1977 Ford truck southbound on Butler Rd. when he lost control of the vehicle landing in the west ditch after having rolled the truck at least once.

Rose Hill Police were the first on the scene and triaged Thresher code blue and initiated CPR. An assessment did not find any accident related trauma. Butler Medic 50 transported Thresher to Kansas Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Firefighters assisted Douglas Fire Department with a structural fire Monday, Feb. 24, in the 6000 block of S.W. 200th St.
