Two arson fires reported in Manhattan on Saturday

Topeka Capital Journal – March 23, 2014

Two arsons were reported in Manhattan on Saturday, according to a call log sent out by Riley County police.

The first fire was reported at 6:32 a.m. at Pawnee Mental Health, an outpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment facility at 2001 Claflin Road. Police listed it as an arson fire in an inhabited building, but didn’t specify if anyone was injured.

A second incident listed as an arson fire was reported at 11:43 a.m. Saturday at Fancy Creek State Park.

Neither incident listed any damage estimates. Dispatchers said Sunday afternoon that they couldn’t release any more information about either case because investigations were ongoing.
